Frequently
Asked
Questions
What is an IBCLC?
The International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) credential identifies the "gold standard" for lactation professionals. An IBCLC is a knowledgeable and experienced member of the maternal-child health team who has specialized skills in breastfeeding management and care. The IBLCE certification program offers the only credential in lactation consulting and is available globally. Before becoming certified, an IBCLC has college education in health sciences, a minimum of 90 hours of breastfeeding/lactation specific education, and 500-1000 hours of clinical/hands-on experience. An IBCLC maintains competency through continuing education courses every 5 years and takes a certifying exam every 10 years. For more information, visit iblce.org
Do you take insurance?
Golden Latch does not submit claims directly to insurance companies. However, an insurance superbill can be provided upon request for clients who wish to submit for out-of-network reimbursement. Many clients are able to receive partial or full reimbursement depending on their individual coverage. We encourage you to contact your insurance provider directly to learn more about your lactation care benefits.

What if I am pumping and bottle feeding?
I welcome you to schedule a consultation. Pumping and bottle feeding can bring its own challenges and I am here to help you with everything from cue-based feeding routines, pump flange sizing, and bottle selection. During our time together I will collect a comprehensive history of both parent and baby, complete both a structural and functional oral exam of baby, observe at least one feeding, and develop a feeding care plan.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?
I understand that things come up, especially when you have littles. You may reschedule your appointment up to 24 hours before your appointment time, should you need to. I ask that if you need to cancel an appointment that you do so 24 hours or more before your appointment time to allow for other families in need to access the soonest available appointments. Cancellations less than 24 hours prior to your appointment time (barring a true emergency), will be subject to a $50 fee billed to the card on file.
